BOATING SAFETY EDUCATION

On June 4, 2003, Governor Phil Bredesen signed into law a mandatory boating education requirement for persons born after January 1, 1989. Effective January 1, 2005, anyone who meets this age criteria operating boats on Tennessee waters must show proof of successful completion of a nationally approved boating safety course accepted by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. The certificate will be issued by TWRA and a $10 fee will be charged for this certificate.
